A support group — The New Tribe (TNT) — has commenced a video campaign to showcase the instances in which Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo condemned the killings of Nigerians by armed bandits.

In the footage published on YouTube and other social media platforms, the vice-president was seen condemning the killings on separate occasions.

Over the past few years, many parts of the country have witnessed a series of violent attacks perpetrated by armed gangs — bandits, insurgents and other criminal elements — leading to the deaths of many Nigerians and the destruction of properties.

Amid these killings, some Nigerians have argued that Osinbajo has never condemned the killings or expressed sympathy for the victims.

In reaction, TNT kick-started the video campaign to showcase some of the instances Osinbajo has condemned killings of Nigerians, irrespective of religion and ethnicity.

In one of the scenes in the video, Osinbajo, during the commissioning of Deeper Life Bible Church headquarters in Lagos, condemned the killing of two Catholic priests and some worshippers during a burial mass in Benue, in April 2018.

“Just this morning on my way here, I was notified of the violation of the Catholic church in Benue state by armed killers who went there while a burial mass was taking place,” the vice-president had said.

“And they killed the priest and some worshippers. It is not only a thing of sacrilege but high wickedness to kill persons in the place of worship.”
