A group, the Concerned Nigerians for Human Security has appealed to the international community to support Nigeria in tackling persistent insecurity in Zamfara and other parts of northern Nigeria.
In an open letter to US President Donald Trump, the group described the situation in Zamfara as a “humanitarian tragedy” requiring urgent global attention and coordinated action.
The coalition said thousands of people, including women and children, have been victims of repeated assaults by armed groups, resulting in deaths, kidnappings, and the destruction of entire communities.
The group called on the global community to work with the Nigerian government to find sustainable solutions to the crisis through humanitarian aid, intelligence sharing, and support for displaced families.

While commending President Bola Tinubu for deploying special forces and strengthening the country’s security architecture, the group said more coordinated efforts are necessary to achieve peace.
“We are appealing for moral intervention and international support to help end the cycle of killings and displacement in Zamfara and across northern Nigeria,” the group said in its letter.
The group also cautioned against framing the violence in religious terms, noting that both Muslims and Christians have suffered significant losses.

“In both faith communities, entire mosques have been burnt, entire churches razed, families decimated. Therefore, the narrative that this is a religious war is inaccurate and dangerously misleading,” it said.
It further advised the federal government to explore additional options, including declaring a state of emergency in Zamfara to restore order and rebuild affected communities.
