Hauwa-Belli Manu, mother of Haruna Manu, deputy governor of Taraba state, was abducted from her residence in the Mutum-Biyu headquarters of Gassol local government area of the state around 9pm on Monday.

Joseph kwaji, police public relations officer (PPRO) in Taraba, confirmed the incident, saying the suspected kidnappers were yet to get in touch with the family of the victim.

Kwaji said the command had deployed additional detectives to the area to assist in tracking the culprits.

He called on members of the public with useful information to contact the nearest police station and present same.

Tukura Bashir, chairman of the local government, also confirmed the incident and said there was no communication from the abductors as at the time of filing this report.

He said one person was killed in as the gunmen shot sporadically to pave way for their escape with old woman.
