Gunmen suspected to be security operatives have reportedly abducted Chris Anaelechi Obasi, the managing director of Zeta-Web Nigeria, from his Lagos residence.
The incident occurred on Wednesday around 8pm at Graceland estate in Ajah.
Ada Francis, Obasi’s younger sibling, told TheCable on Friday that the gunmen lured the MD through an acquaintance.
Ada said Obasi was abducted as he opened the door of his apartment for the acquaintance.

At the time of reporting, Obasi’s family members are in the dark on his whereabouts.
However, his sister said Obasi’s neighbour told family members that he overheard the gunmen mentioning “Tiger base, Owerri”.
“Even the security personnel at the gate said they flashed their identity cards that indicated that they are from Tiger base, Owerri, Imo state capital,” she said.

Tiger base is a police unit in Imo state established to tackle robbery and kidnapping.
Ada said family members are yet to receive any confirmation from the police unit on Obasi’s whereabouts.
She added that some family members are currently at the base for details.

The abduction comes amid a lingering tussle for the kingship of Eziama community in Ikeduru LGA of Imo.
The high court in Imo is billed to deliver judgment on the case on Friday, May 16, 2025.
Obasi is touted as heir to the Eziama community throne, following the demise of his father, Eze C.A Obasi Oparaugo, Ekwueme Orji 1 of Eziama Ikeduru.
Henry Okoye, Imo police spokesperson, is yet to respond to requests for comments on the incident.

Obasi was general manager, information technology and facilities at Multichoice Nigeria, before his appointment in July 2018 as MD of Zeta-Web Nigeria.
