Alex Otti, Abia governor
Three officials attached to Alex Otti, governor of Abia, were attacked by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
The incident occurred between Umuowa and Ihite junction, a few kilometres from the airport.
The attackers, suspected to be fleeing gunmen, opened fire on the vehicle conveying the aides near the airport corridor.
In a statement on Tuesday, Njoku Ukoha, Otti’s chief press secretary, said the affected officials were part of an advance team and not the governor’s convoy.
