Gunmen, on Friday, killed a member of Ebube Agu security outfit in Ebonyi state.

The attack occurred at Mkpuma Ekwa-Oku in Izzi LGA of the state.

The security operative, identified as Sunday Izhikpa, was shot dead at his duty post.

Victor Ogbaga, a resident in the area, said the deceased was a native of Nduakparata Igbeagu in the area.

“He was killed by the gunmen at his duty post, Mkpuma Ekwa-oku in Izzi,” NAN quoted him as saying.

“The corpse of the victim has been evacuated from the scene, where he was murdered this morning.”

Reacting to the development, Chris Anyanwu, spokesperson of the Ebonyi police command, confirmed the incident.

“I have called a personnel of Ebube Agu and he said the attack was true,” Anyanwu said.

The development comes amid reports of attacks in south-east states, resulting in kidnappings, killings and abductions.

In April, Christian Iboko, an operative of the Ebube Agu security network, was killed by gunmen.

Months before, Sunday Nwafor, another Ebube Agu operative in Ebonyi state, was beheaded.
