Gunmen attack Oyo community, kill four residents

Four residents were confirmed dead on Monday, following an attack  by gunmen in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo state.

Olugbenga Fadeyi, spokesperson of the Oyo command, said the gunmen ran away before the police got to the scene of the attack.

He also noted that the police officers were able to recover the corpses of the victims, and deposited them at a morgue.

Fadeyi, however, did not specify what led to the attack.

In a statement issued on Monday, the police spokesperson stated that the command is already making efforts to arrest the perpetrators of the crime, whom he said are on the run.

“It was reliably gathered that unknown gunmen attacked and killed four men at Kokobido village Idiko Ile via Ijio at about 0300 hrs of today 8/3/21,” Fadeyi said.

“The DPO, Ijio, quickly moved into the scene and removed corpses to Fadok Hospital morgue for autopsy.

“Efforts intensified to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.”

In January, seven people were killed when operatives of the Oyo state security network, better known as Amotekun, and some gunmen clashed in Aiyete, Ibarapa north local government area of the state.
