Gunmen kidnap ASUP chairman in Oyo

Gunmen have kidnapped Opadijo Olujide, chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) at the College of Agriculture, Igbo-Ora, Oyo state.

Gbenga Alayande, Olujide’s secretary, and three others were also said to have been kidnapped.

The officials were reportedly returning from a union meeting on Thursday in Saki when the incident occurred.

Olugbenga Fadeyi, public relations officer, Oyo state police command, confirmed the abduction on Friday.

He said Shina Olukolu, the state commissioner of police, visited the area for assessment.

He said the police are making efforts to rescue the kidnapped persons.

“Some lecturers were abducted at the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igbo-ora. The police is on the top of the situation,” he said.

“The Commissioner of Police went there in the morning for an on-the-spot assessment. Other developments will be unravelled.”

In June, Dayo, a son of Isaac Adewole, former minister of health, was also abducted in Afijio local government area of the state.
