Joseph Masin, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Nasarawa state, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

Yohanna Samari, former CAN secretary in the state, who confirmed the incident to the PUNCH, said the gunmen invaded Masin’s residence between 11 pm and 12 midnight on Wednesday and took him away.

He said the kidnappers took the CAN chairman away on a motorcycle, but that nobody was hurt in the attack.

Bola Longe, commissioner of police in Nasarawa, also confirmed the incident to journalists in Lafia on Thursday.

Longe said a team of police officers have been deployed to investigate the attack and to rescue Masin.

Lawan Andimi, CAN chairman in Michika local government area of Adamawa state, was kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents early January.

The insurgents had demanded a ransom of €2 million (about N800 million) for Andimi’s release, but they later beheaded him.
