Gunmen kidnap Kano SUBEB secretary

Uba Muhammad, secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in  Kano, has been abducted.

A brother of the victim confirmed the development to reporters on Sunday night.

He said the abductors have contacted the family to demand a ransom of N20million.

He said the gunmen stormed Shiye village in Bunkure local government area of the state on Saturday morning, and whisked Muhammad away.

The brother said the case had been reported to the police.

Magaji Majiya, spokesman of the police in Kano, confirmed the development, saying the police are committed to rescuing the victim alive.

Majiya said after the family lodged a complaint, the commissioner of police directed the command in-charge of anti-kidnapping to swing into action.
