Gunmen kidnap retired customs officer in Kwara
Mohammed Zarma, a resident of Kwara state, identified as a retired officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has been abducted.
Ajayi Okasanmi, spokesman of the Kwara police command, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday.
According to the police, Zarma, said to have retired as a deputy comptroller of customs, was abducted on Thursday around 5:30pm.
He was said to have been working on his farm located at Oke-Jia, Egbejila area of Ilorin, the Kwara capital, when he was attacked.
Okasanmi, however, said efforts are in place to ensure the safe rescue of the former officer.
“On the visit to the scene after the incident by the command’s operatives, four empty shells of expended ammunition were recovered,” Okasanmi said.
He assured the family of the victim and the general public that no effort would be spared in ensuring that the victim is rescued safely.
He also promised that the perpetrators of the crime would be apprehended and dealt with according to the law.
