Stanley Nnaji, a former judge of the Enugu state high court, has been shot dead by gunmen.

Nnaji was killed on Sunday evening in Enugu while driving in a black Mercedes Benz SUV.

Confirming the incident, Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, commissioner of police in the state, said he has ordered a manhunt for the gunmen.

In a statement signed by Daniel Ndukwe, spokesperson of the police command, the commissioner said: “The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.”

Nnaji hails from Mbu, Isi-Uzo LGA of the state.

He was dismissed as a judge following his alleged role in the removal of Chris Ngige, the then governor of Anambra state, in 2007 via a questionable ex-parte order.

Nnaji was killed few hours after Ahmed Gulak, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was shot dead by gunmen in Imo state.
