Gunmen kill hotelier, abduct friend in Kwara

Gunmen have killed Kayode Akinyemi, a hotelier in Alomilaya area of Ganmo, Ifelodun LGA, Kwara state.

Akinyemi was killed when the gunmen invaded his hotel named 16 HOUR.

Ajayi Okasanmi, the Kwara police spokesman who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the hotel’s manager was also injured while one of the deceased’s friends who was with him at the time of the attack was abducted.

”The command’s tactical teams, in conjunction with vigilantes and hunters had since been mobilised to the scene,” Okasanimi said in a statement.

”They are combing the surrounding bushes for possible rescue of the victim and arrest of the hoodlums, while the corpse of the victim had been deposited in the general hospital mortuary for autopsy.”

According to the spokesman, a total lockdown of the area with a result-oriented manhunt for the perpetrators of the act has been declared by Tuesday Assayomo, that state’s commissioner of police.

“Enough is enough for the criminals, as stringent security actions were already put in place to checkmate the activities of the criminal elements in the state,” the commissioner was quoted to have said.

On August 3, gunmen had killed Olugbenga Owolabi, a hotelier who was abducted in Ogbomoso, a town in Oyo state that shares border with Kwara.

Owolabi was killed after his family had paid N5million to his abductors.
