The Benue state command of the Nigeria police force has confirmed the killing of Baba Ibrahim, an assistant superintendent of police (ASP), by gunmen in the Katsina-Ala area of the state.

Austin Ezeani, the police public relations officer (PPRO), told NAN in Makurdi on Thursday that the late officer was the head of a special police task force on cattle rustling in the state.

He said the inspector-general of police inaugurated the task force to curtail rising cases of cattle rustling.

Ezeani explained that unknown gunmen who came to the Katsina-Ala cattle market in a Toyota vehicle with the inscription ‘NAND’, attacked the deceased within the market, on Wednesday.
