Three persons have been killed and several houses razed following an attack on a community in Ifon, Ose LGA, Ondo state.

Oyeyemi Oyediran, Ondo commissioner of police, confirmed the development on Friday and said efforts are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

According to NAN, the gunmen attacked Melenge camp along Elerinla, near Arimogija, in Ose council area, and reportedly shot dead three persons.

Several houses were said to have been set blaze during the attack which occurred on Thursday night.

Speaking when he visited the Melenge camp on Friday for an on-the-spot assessment to ascertain the level of damage caused in the area, Oyediran met with community members and promised that security agencies will fish out the perpetrators.

“I have deployed men of the special squads and police mobile force personnel to the community to ensure the protection of lives and property in the area,” he said.

The CP also assured residents of adequate protection of lives and properties, and enjoined members of the public to give the police genuine information that would help reduce crime to the barest minimum in the state.
