Gunmen kill two police officers in Imo

Two operatives of the Imo police command have been reportedly killed by suspected gunmen in an attack on Monday.

According to Henry Okoye, the spokesperson of the police command, the incident happened at Ahiara junction in Ahiazu-Mbaise LGA of the state.

Okoye said Aboki Danjuma, the commissioner of police in Imo, has given instructions to officers to comb the scene of the incident and investigate the matter thoroughly.

“The command has received the ugly news of two of our officers shot dead by assailants. It is very unfortunate the gallant officers lost their lives while on duty at Ahiara junction in Ahaizu-Mbaise LGA,” the police spokesperson said.

“Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, the Commander of 34 Artillery Brigade and Joint Task Force (JTF) operatives have started combing the scene of the crime for evidence that will possibly lead to the arrest of the hoodlums responsible for the dastardly act.

“The command promises to apprehend the killers sooner than later.”

The incident is coming a few days after suspected assailants killed the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ife/Okpodim/Chokoneze ward in Ezinihitte-Mbaise and the traditional ruler of Otulu. autonomous community.
