The king makers in Gwoza emirate council of Borno State have announced son of the late emir of Gwoza, who was killed two weeks ago by Boko Haram, as the new emir.

The late emir, Alhaji Idriss Timta (pictured) was with emir of Uba, Alhaji Ismaila Mamza; and emir of Askira, Alhaji Abdullahi Askirama on a journey to Gombe for the funeral of late emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar, when gunmen pelted their car with bullets.

The new emir was chosen after a meeting of the king makers in Gwoza.

NAN reported that the coronation on Wednesday was low-key due to security challenge and continuous attacks on the community by the Boko Haram insurgents.
