Three Nigerians currently undergoing hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Araibia died in a road accident on Thursday.
Ibrahim Kana, commissioner in charge of health matters, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), said the tragic incident happened while on their way to Madina.
The victims, who are all from Zamfara state, include Jafaru Sambo, Mudi Mallamawa and Abdullahi Dorowa from Kaura Namoda, Shinkafi and Maru local government areas (LGAs) respectively.
They were chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in their various LGAs.
The tragic incident happened some 120 kilometres away from Madina.
Kana said three other Nigerians who survived the accident are currently receiving treatment while the bodies of the deceased have been moved to the King Fahd Hospital, Madina.
The sad incident happened only two days after two Nigerian pilgrims — from Niger and Kaduna — died in the Holy land as well.
