RB Leipzig scored two first-half goals to defeat Bayern Munich 3-0 in their German Super Cup clash at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Dani Olmo, the Spanish midfielder, scored all three goals as RB Leipzig claimed this season’s Super Cup.

Bayern Munich, the German champions and perennial Super Cup winners, paraded Harry Kane, their €100 million acquisition — announced on Saturday morning — as a second-half substitute.

The Bavarians registered Kane, who is trophyless in his football career, just in time to feature in the match.

During the thrilling encounter, Olmo stroked in following a free kick to give Leipzig the lead in the third minute.

He then doubled the lead with a well-crafted poked effort a few minutes to halftime, before converting a second-half penalty to avenge the club’s Super Cup loss at the hands of Bayern last year.

Kane, who was introduced on 63 minutes, did not muster a shot at goal as Bayern fell tamely to defeat.

It is the first time in four seasons Bayern Munich will fail to lift the German Super Cup.

Kane, on the other hand, who has finished as a runner-up in two English League Cup finals, a Champions League final, and the European Championships, continues the search for the first trophy in his career.
