‘He was patriotic’ — Orji Kalu mourns Mbadinuju, ex-gov of Anambra
Orji Kalu, chief whip of the senate, has mourned the demise of Chinwoke Mbadinuju, a former governor of Anambra.
Mbadinuju died on Tuesday at the age of 78.
He served as the governor of Anambra between May 1999 and May 2003.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Kalu said Mbadinuju contributed to the growth and development of the south-east state.
He said the deceased was humble, forthright and selfless in his lifetime.
“I received with sadness the news of the demise of former governor of Anambra state, Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju,” the statement reads.
“The deceased played noble roles in advancing the cause of the people through various platforms.
“He was easy-going, compassionate and patriotic in his endeavours.
“His good deeds are worthy of emulation. The late statesman will be sorely missed for his worthy legacies.”
Mbadinuju was a personal assistant to Jim Nwobodo, a former governor of Enugu, between 1979 and 1980, before playing the same role for Shehu Shagari, former Nigeria’s president, between 1980 and 1983.
