Muhammed Al-Sahabi, the Saudi press attache to Nigeria, has commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in a bombing mishap by the military in Kaduna.
Al-Sahabi sent his condolences on Wednesday in an X thread.
On Sunday, military air strikes killed scores of worshippers at Tudun Biri, in Igabi LGA of Kaduna state.
According to multiple reports, the death toll from the bombing has hit 120, with scores left badly injured.
The Nigerian Army has claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that its troops were on a routine mission against terrorists when the “mistake” occurred.
Taoreed Lagbaja, chief of army staff (COAS), described the incident as a “very disheartening occurrence” during a visit to the village on Tuesday.
While mourning the victims, Al-Sahabi said the death of the villagers is a “heart-wrenching blow”.
Al-Sahabi prayed for strength and resilience for the families of the victims.
“I express my deepest condolences on the tragic military mishap that occurred in Kaduna State, resulting in the loss of lives,” Al-Sahabi wrote.
“The loss of even one life is a tragedy, and the loss of multiple lives is a heart-wrenching blow.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased, who must be grappling with unimaginable grief.
“I pray for their strength & resilience during this difficult time.”
