The Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), says Wale Edun, the newly appointed minister of finance, is well-equipped to steer Nigeria’s economy towards sustainable growth and development.

In a statement issued on Friday, Mohammed Danlami, spokesperson of the group, said Edun will bring his wealth of experience to address the economic challenges facing the country.

Danlami said the group is optimistic that the minister will effectively shoulder the economic responsibilities of the nation in “this crucial position”.

“Mr Edun’s appointment is a round peg in a round hole. His appointment did not come as no surprise to us and many Nigerians, given his extensive experience as an economist, local and international banker, and former Lagos state commissioner of finance,” the statement reads.
