US President Donald Trump has kicked at Elon Musk’s formation of a new political party.
Musk unveiled the ‘America Party’ on Saturday, marking a clear break from Trump whom he once advised before the two fell out publicly over a domestic policy bill.
The US political system is characterised by a two-party system — the Democrats and Republicans.
Historically, no third-party candidate has come close to winning the presidency, and Congress has been controlled by either Democrats or Republicans for over a century and a half.

In a late Sunday post, Trump said he was saddened to watch Musk go completely “off the rails” and “essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks”.
“The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!,” he added.
“Republicans, on the other hand, are a smooth-running machine, that just passed the biggest Bill of its kind in the History of our Country.”

Trump reiterated his claim that Musk only opposed the bill because it eliminated the electric vehicle (EV) mandate.
The president added that Musk had also asked that one of his close friends run NASA but Trump said he rejected the proposal after he learnt that the friend in question was a “blue blooded Democrat, who had never contributed to a Republican before”.
On Monday, Musk said the ‘America Party’ is needed to fight the “Republican/Democrat uni party”.
