Elisha Abbo, sacked Adamawa senator, has apologised to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Abbo had claimed during a press conference on Monday night that he was booted out by the court for not supporting Akpabio’s senate presidency bid.

On Monday, the court of appeal sacked Abbo as senator representing Adamawa north and declared Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as duly elected.

In June, Abbo backed the senate presidency bid of Abdulaziz Yari, senator representing Zamfara west, over Akpabio’s.

Speaking on Tuesday night on Arise Television, Abbo said he held a meeting with Akpabio who swore that he was not part of the alleged plot to remove him from the senate.

The Adamawa politician said he felt sorry after the senate president told him he had no hand in his ordeal.

“My apology is because I am convinced that he is not involved,” he said.

“For many Nigerians that followed me over the years, they don’t know me as a person that says something because he wants to benefit from something. No, I don’t do that.

“My apology to him is that I am deeply convinced that after the discussion yesterday, he said ‘A, B, C, and D, I swear on my mother’s grave my hand is not there’, I felt sorry.”

Abbo said there was some “level of judicial rascality” in the court’s order.
