Buba Marwa, chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has described former President Muhammadu Buhari as a “servant-leader” whose life was defined by integrity, discipline, and commitment to national service.

In a statement issued on Monday, Marwa said Buhari’s death was received with profound sorrow by his family and the NDLEA community.

Marwa described Buhari as a leader who inspired calm amidst uncertainty and led with quiet resolve, and that his “actions often spoke louder than words”.

“Former President Buhari will be remembered for his steadfast efforts to restore discipline in governance, and pursuit of security and stability during some of the most challenging periods in our national history,” the statement reads.

“He possessed the rare ability to lead with quiet resolve. His integrity, simplicity, and personal discipline set him apart as a leader whose actions often spoke louder than words.

“He was a man of principle, guided by a strong moral compass and a genuine concern for the well-being of ordinary citizens.”

Highlighting Buhari’s achievements, Marwa said his administration advanced agricultural reform, championed infrastructure development, and sought to build a foundation for national self-sufficiency and pride.

Marwa also acknowledged Buhari’s early contributions as a military head of state and later as a democratically elected president, saying both phases reflected his dedication to public service and national rebirth.

He prayed for Allah to grant the late president eternal rest.

“As we mourn his passing, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved family. We stand with them in grief, offering our thoughts, prayers, and support during this time of profound loss,” Marwa added.

“May the Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant the soul of our departed leader Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
