The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited says the leadership of Mele Kyari, the immediate-past group chief executive officer (GCEO), left an indelible mark on the company.
On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu appointed Bayo Ojulari to replace Kyari, with Ahmadu Musa Kida also appointed as NNPC’s non-executive chairman, replacing Pius Akinyelure.
In a statement on Wednesday by Femi Soneye, NNPC’s spokesperson, the management of the national oil firm commended Kyari for his exceptional contributions.
“We extend our profound appreciation to the outgoing GCEO, Mr. Mele Kyari, and the former Board Members for their selfless and dedicated service to the Company and to the nation,” the statement reads.

“Mr. Kyari’s leadership and tireless efforts have left an indelible mark on NNPC Ltd., and we are sincerely grateful for his outstanding contributions.
“We wish him and all departing Board Members continued success and fulfilment in their future endeavours.”
According to the statement, the management and staff of NNPC also welcomed the appointment of Ojulari and the board of directors for the company.

Prior to his appointment, Ojulari worked as an executive vice-president at Renaissance African Energy Company at a time when the company was in talks to purchase SPDC for over $2 billion.
Ojulari has been the board chairman of BAT Advisory and Energy, a company that specialises in upstream and midstream investment advisory, since 2022.
