Suspected hoodlums have vandalised the palace of Sunday Boboye, the traditional ruler of Ode community in Akure north local government area of Ondo state.

The attack was not unconnected to a land dispute between Ode and its neighbouring Isinigbo community.

The hoodlums, numbering about 20, stormed the palace at about 12:30am on Tuesday, shooting indiscriminately and destroying properties.

Some residents of the community said they locked themselves inside their houses to avoid being caught in the crossfire.

The two communities have been at war over land since 2017, leading to various attacks that have resulted in deaths, and destruction of many properties.

At least, two persons were reportedly killed, while more than 40 people were injured during a clash involving residents of both communities on December 3.
