‘HoS, permanent secretaries’ — Bagudu makes new appointments on handover day

Atiku Bagudu, the outgoing governor of Kebbi, has confirmed the appointment of Safiyanu Garba Bena as the substantive head of service in the state.

Bagudu also appointed four permanent secretaries.

The four newly-appointed permanent secretaries are Kudirat Shuaibu, Ibrahim Umar, Mustapha Tata and Suleiman Sani Augie.

In November 2020, Bena was appointed as the acting head of service following the retirement of  Fatima Sani Ango.

Yahaya Sarki, media aide to the governor, in a statement on Monday, said the appointment is with immediate effect.

The appointment comes on the day Bagudu will hand over power to Idris Nasiru.

Bagudu had served as Kebbi governor for eight years. He was elected in 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and re-elected in 2019.

Nasiru, the APC governorship candidate, won the March 18 governorship election.

He scored 409,225 votes to beat his closest challenger, Bande Aminu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 360,940 votes.
