As part of plans to mark the 15th anniversary of the existence of the House on The Rock in the federal capital territory, the church has set aside September 5 to 7 as a period of thanksgiving and dedication of The Citadel & Towers at the City Gate, a building that commenced in 2007.

Speaking at a press briefing to announce the line-up of activities of the event, resident pastor of the church, Goodheart Ekwueme, expressed delight that House on the Rock had come a long way in Abuja, despite being confronted with different challenges all along.

“In this city, we have had course to be tenants at several meeting venues for years and can readily count over 10 of such venues that hosted us as we sojourned from one part of the city to the other,” he said.

“In June 2007, we commenced the building of what is today known as the Citadel & Towers. This iconic structure, though home to House on the Rock, is a refuge designed as a Capital City Community Development Centre from where our several initiatives to benefit the City will proceed from. This building has been rightly christened The Transformation Cente.”

He said the Saturday programme would be attended by distinguished personalities such as former vice-president Alex Ekwueme, who coincidentally is his father; senior pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, and other international gospel artistes such as Micah Stampley, Angella Christie, Frank Edward, and kingsley Ike, who will feature in a live concert scheduled to hold by 5pm on Sunday.

Ekwume called on Nigerians to have confidence in the country and also to join hands in developing Nigeria.

“Nation-building is everybody’s business.Transformation does not happen overnight. I always tell people to look at themselves in the mirror before talking about corruption,” he said.

“We cannot wish away things that have accumulated over the years. It is not possible. It takes time. We need to see nation-building as everybody’s business. That is one of the ways we can move this country forward.

“At House on the Rock, we believe that the church must continue to be a force for progress and development in our immediate communities and the society at large.”
