Manu Garba, coach of the 2013 FIFA Under 17 World Cup-winning team, says he never turned down the offer of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for him to step down from his present position as head coach of the flying eagles and take control of the Golden Eaglets.
There were insinuations on Wednesday that Abdullahi Maikaba of Wikki Tourists might be given the job of the Golden Eaglets, should Garba reject the offer.
But speaking with TheCable on Thursday, Garba stated his willingness to accept the Golden Eaglets job or any other job he might be assigned to, adding that the top officials of the federation discussed earlier with him and he later called them to confirm his readiness to coach the Golden Eaglets.
“I have a contract at hand and I am ready to take any job given to me by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF),” he said.
“The news did not emanate from me that I turned down the offer. As a national coach, I can handle any job given to me or anytime I am called upon.
“The fact is that we did discuss earlier, but later on, I called them and agreed to coach the U17. You can confirm by calling the director of technical or Shehu Dikko or Ahmed Fresh to get this fact from any of them. I am ready to take over any job given to me by the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF).”
