Umar Dangiwa, former governor of Kaduna state, says he was never consulted before his name was included among the promoters of the National Consultative Front.

On Wednesday, a new political movement was launched ahead of the 2023 elections with the aim of “driving reforms” in the country.

The group listed 30 prominent Nigerians as members of the new movement.

Dangiwa was listed alongside Ghali Na’abba, former speaker of the house of representatives; Femi Falana, human rights lawyer; Obadiah Mailafia, ex-deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Oby Ezekwesili as members of the movement.

Others are Jibo Ibrahim, Chidi Odinkalu, Shehu Sani, a former senator; Remi Sonaiya, former presidential candidate.

But in a statement on Friday, Dangiwa said he is not a member of the group.

“My attention has been drawn to a widely circulated story that I am part of the promoters of a new political movement known as the National Consultative Front,” he said.

“This is not true. I was never consulted and I am not part of the National Consultative Front.”

On Thursday, Olisa Agbakoba, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), also distanced himself from the new political movement.

He said he was not consulted.
