A’ Ibom monarch’s wife gives birth to a baby in kidnappers’ den

Ubong Assam, wife of the traditional ruler of Esit Eket in Akwa Ibom, was delivered of a baby girl while in custody of her kidnappers.

NAN quoted a family source as saying the monarch’s wife gave birth to the baby in an unknown hideout of her abductors

The kidnappers abducted the traditional ruler’s wife and her four children in the Akpautong neighbourhood of Esit Eket on April 29.

The source said that the kidnappers quickly released the woman and her four children due to the birth of the baby in their den.

Reacting to the development, Cordelia Nwawe, the police public relations officer in Akwa Ibom, said the command expressed appreciation to God for the safe delivery of the monarch’s wife.

She said the command had yet to receive any information about the release of the kidnapped woman and her four children, but NAN said the traditional ruler’s wife and her four children were released on May 14.
