Ibrahim Gusau
Ibrahim Gusau, president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has been elected president of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
Gusau was elected during an online meeting held by Zone B executive members on Monday.
The NFF president succeeded Edwin Simeon-Okraku of Ghana, who resigned as WAFU B president in April. Simeon-Okaraku left the post to resume as the second vice-president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Gusau was WAFU B’s first vice president before his latest promotion.

WAFU is the regional football governing body for West African countries, but in 2011, CAF divided the union into two over organisational issues.
Zone A comprises Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
Zone B has Nigeria, the Benin Republic Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger and Togo.

Gusau becomes the fourth Nigerian to lead WAFU alongside Jonathan Ogufere, Abdulmumini Aminu and Amos Adamu.
Gusau was elected as NFF president in 2022.
