Idris Wase, deputy speaker, loses elder brother

Adamu Idris, the Emir of Bashar and elder brother of Idris Wase, deputy speaker of the house of representatives, is dead. 

Umar Muhammad Puma, the press secretary of the deputy speaker, made this known in a statement on Sunday.

He said the deceased died on Sunday at the age of 96.

The statement reads: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of the Emir of Bashar, Alhaji Adamu Idris; the elder brother of the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase.

“He died in Jos in the early hours of today (Sunday ) at the age of 96. He left behind four wives many children and grandchildren. He will be buried today in Bashar, Plateau state, according to Islamic rites.”

Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, condoled with Wase, saying “the late Adamu was a symbol of peace and unity among his people”.

In a statement by Lanre Lasisi, his special adviser on media, Gbajabiamila said the late Emir of Bashar “lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation”.
