Ife Ehindero, ex-IGP’s son, seeks to replace Tunji-Ojo at house of reps

Ife Ehindero, the son of Sunday Ehindero, a former inspector-general of police (IGP), says he will win the February 3 by-election in a federal constituency in Ondo state.

The younger Ehindero, who became the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the race for the Akoko north-west/Akoko north-east constituency on Saturday, is seeking to replace Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Tunji-Ojo left vacated his seat in the lower legislative chamber after he was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the minister of interior.

The APC candidate said the party must unite to win the forthcoming election.

“As it stands, APC remains the property of all party faithful and we all have inalienable rights to call the progressive party our own regardless of our personal interest,” Ehindero said.

“Primary election has come and gone but it is time to forge ahead in our resolve to collaborate with other patriots to build a better constituency which we can all be proud of.

“I would like to state that none of the aspirants of the party in the Federal Constituency was a misfit but at the end of the election, someone will definitely be crowned a winner. However, this is a win for all and not for Ife Ehindero alone.

“I extend a hand of peace and love to other aspirants for us to join hands together in winning the General Election and also in delivering the dividend of democracy to our people.

“The task before us now is how to mobilise voters across the nooks and crannies of the Federal Constituency to do the right thing on the day of the election.”

Ehindero cautioned party members against the use “offensive language” on anyone despite their political affiliation.
