Odion Ighalo, Super Eagles and Watford FC striker, says he is unaware of reported transfer talks between his club and West Bromwich Albion.

Reacting to reports that he is wanted by West Brom, who are believed to be rounding off plans to make a bid for him, a bemused Ighalo told TheCable the development was news to him.

“I was surprised to be reading about my purported transfer online,” Ighalo said.

“I am surprised to read that West Bromwich is having a talk with my club. It’s not concrete and I am still with Watford.”

Ighalo concluded that if it was true that WBA really wanted him, he would have at least been involved in the talks.

“I am not aware of such,” he reiterated.

“At least the person directly involved should be aware of such development too. I’ll talk to my agent tomorrow and find out.”

Ighalo managed 17 goals in all competitions in 2015/16 season, thriving under Quique Sanchez Flores until the turn of the year.

He has just been able to muster two goals for the club so far this season under Walter Mazzarri.

If the deal happens to come true, Ighalo could be paired with Salomon Rondon in a powerful partnership at West Bromwich.

WBA are enjoying a sensational season in eighth place and are looking to consolidate their joint-best Premier League finish, unlike Watford FC who are on a poor run of form that has left them just seven points adrift of the drop zone.
