New-kid-on-the-block, Kelechi Iheanacho, got his Manchester City debut in a flying start with a goal and a man-of-the-match award on Thursday morning in the United States, as the EPL champions defeated the MLS champions, Sporting Kansas City 4-1, in a friendly match.

The 2013 U-17 World Cup Golden Ball winner wore jersey No.72 and started with Stevan Jovetic upfront in a 4-4-2 formation. He played all 90 minutes.

The youngster almost scored his first goal on 15 minutes when he got on to a pass from Jesus Navas but the Sporting Kansas City goalkeeperAndy Gruenebaum pushed the shot around the post.

Two minutes later, he forced another save off the goalkeeper with a shot from 30 yards.

Iheanacho capped an impressive performance with the fourth goal for City in the 88th minute – a calm side-foot from a Navas cut back that showed all his quality.

“Iheanacho. Watch out for that name. You’re going to be hearing that name for a long time to come. Eye-catching display,” a very impressed ESPN commentator said after the match.
