Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho was unlisted as Manchester City defeated Leicester 2-1 at the Etihad on Saturday.

Ahmed Musa was once again benched but Wilfred Ndidi was impressive for Leicester.

The first forty-five minute was entertaining as both sides created several scoring chances.

Leroy Sane embarked on a run down the left and picked out David Silva whose shot found the back of the net in the 29th minute for the host’s opener.

But there was some controversy with Leicester players alleging that Raheem Sterling tried to interfere in the attack from an offside position.

In the 36th minute, Yohan Benalouane brought down Leroy Sane in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Gabriel Jesus made no mistake with the kick and gave a City a 2-0 lead.

Leicester pulled one back before the half ended. Marc Albrighton sent in a pacy cross that was volleyed in spectacularly by Shinji Okazaki in the 42nd minute.

The second half was barren, goal wise, although Riyad Mahrez did miss a glorious chance to equalise for his side.

Gael Clichy brought down the Algerian in the 76th minute but his penalty kick was disallowed after he was adjudged to have touched the ball twice.

Pep Guardiola’s men have now extended their lead over fifth-placed Arsenal to six points.

City are now third on the English Premier League table, two points ahead of Liverpool.
