It was jubilation galore as the Super Eagles began their World Cup qualification campaign with a 2-0 win over Liberia on Friday night.

Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho popped up with a brace for Nigeria at Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Below are the five things we learned from the game.

Poor playing surface

The playing surface didn’t really allow for free flow of the game. The two teams struggled to string passes together in Lagos.

Moses Simon was a menace

In-form Moses Simon dazzled for the Super Eagles. He hardly put any foot wrong and always tried to cross the ball. It will be difficult to dislodge him from the team.

Wasteful Osimhen

It was unusual to see Victor Osimhen to miss easy chances. He looked a shadow of himself and was often frustrated.

99th cap for Musa

Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa climbed off the bench to earn his 99th international cap. He relished the moment.
