Ihedioha leading in Imo guber poll

Emeka Ihedioha, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo state, is leading his rivals in the Imo state gubernatorial election.

 Ray Emeana, state secretary of the PDP, said from the results collated at the various local government areas of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ), the former deputy speaker of the house of representatives won in 15 of the local governments  areas in the state.

They are; Ideato North, Oru West, Obowo, Mbaitoli, Owerri West, Owerri North, Ikeduru, Owerri Munucipal, Ngor Okpala, Ahiazu Mbaise, Aboh Mbaise, Ezinihitte, Oguta and Orsu. He won in all the electoral wards in his Owerri Zone and has gathered enough momentum in Orlu and Okigwe.

Uche Nwosu, son-in-law of Rochas Okorocha, incumbent governor, who ran under the platform of Action Alliance, and Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are trailing Ihedioha.

As of the time of filing in this report, results have started arriving the state collation centre in Owerri, the state capital, with multitude of PDP supporters accompanying the results.

People are However worried on the reason why INEC is yet to begin the process of collation.

Journalists and observers have been seated for over five hours with no one attending to them. Calls put through the REC were not taken nor returned as at press time.
