Ilara kingdom unveils 3-day programme to celebrate monarch’s five years on throne

Ilara Kingdom in Epe is set to mark the fifth anniversary of Olufolarin Ogunsanwo’s coronation with a series of events from August 15 to 17.

The celebration is to honour the monarch’s reign.

The three-day programme will start on August 15 with an empowerment initiative and free medical outreach for residents of Ilara kingdom in the morning, followed by a Jumat service in the afternoon.

The main anniversary event will take place on August 16, at the palace, featuring the conferment of honorary chieftaincy titles on seven individuals and couples who have significantly contributed to the kingdom’s growth.

Among those to be honoured are John Obafunwa, who will be installed as balogun of Ilara kingdom; Jelili Olayemi, to be honoured as olotu; and Kemi Pinhero, who will receive the title of baamofin.

Oluwatoyin Lawal and Abiodun Lawal will be installed as bobagunwa and yeye bobagunwa, respectively, while Olanrewaju Obasa will be honoured as otunba bobaseye.

Akinyele Oladeji and Toyin Oladeji will receive the titles of ashipa and yeye ashipa, and Rotimi Edu and Olayemi Edu will be installed as otunba jokotade and yeye otunba jokotade.

The festivities will conclude on August 17, with a thanksgiving service at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ilara Epe, followed by a royal banquet celebrating the monarch’s achievements.

Ogunsanwo previously served as chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).
