Sunday Adeyemo, the Yoruba nation activist popularly known as Sunday Igboho, says he is back to the country to chase out “killer herdsmen” from the south-west zone.

Igboho said the people of the south-west must liberate themselves from the killer herdsmen who are terrorising them.

In a video that was trending on the social media on Tuesday, the Yoruba nation agitator was seen addressing a group of people in Yoruba language in Igboho town, Oyo state.

In the video, Igboho said the people of the south-west do not need soldiers to drive away killer herdsmen from their farmlands.

“We need to come together. We should take charge of the security of the south-west. We don’t need to wait for anybody or the government.

“They have taken away our land. Can we still go to the farm again? We cannot go to the farm. They killed our monarchs in Ekiti state.

“We don’t need soldiers for protection. After we pursue them from our land, we will now start farming. We are going to work together with our elders to achieve the security of our land.”

Igboho said he is not working for any politician, noting that he is being watched closely for his next line of action.

Recently, the Yoruba nation agitator returned to the country three years after he fled for Benin Republic.

In July 2021, Igboho was arrested alongside his wife, Ropo, in Cotonou, Benin Republic, and detained at the request of the Nigerian government.

Igboho had fled Nigeria after the Department of State Services (DSS) raided his residence in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, onJuly 1, 2021.

The raid led to the death of two people while 12 of his aides were arrested.

The DSS had alleged that Igboho was stockpiling weapons, and subsequently declared him wanted.

Attempts by the Nigerian government to repatriate him to Nigeria after his arrest were unsuccessful.

Igboho was arraigned at the Court D’Apeal in Cotonou and was detained in a prison facility in the country.

The charges against him bordered on arms smuggling, inciting violence and calling for a secession of the Yoruba from the Nigerian state.
