‘I’m fine thank you’… am I really? Do you care?

What other remark/question can elicit the; ‘I’m fine thank you, and you?’ response. (That’s if the ‘and you?’ is even included).

There are two ways to look at this.

First to you, who offers the greeting and then keeps on walking and doesn’t even bother to hear the response; your attitude, buried in a social ritual where you speak the words so it seems like you care.

Then to you, who mumbles back in return a response that contradicts your inner voice and doesn’t even make sense to you; your reflexes used to nearly never responding to that question with a genuine answer.

We have all been caught up in the ‘it’s just a greeting’, ‘not a question’ euphoria.
‘Social pleasantry’ they say its called.

However, it is remarkable to consider that even the most unlikely human interactions have the uncanny ability to move you from where you are to where you need to be.

It all depends on the authenticity of expression you commit to the process.

Have you ever really stopped to consider the prospective of this simple everyday phrase?

Sometimes we get so used to a thing that we tend to overlook or discount its potential.

I wish people would ask that question to sincerely know and just be more aware of the other person.
I wish people will just answer that question intentionally and with more personality!

Conversations happen every day. It is what we make of them that determines what we get from them.

The other day when someone asked me, I said; I’m good but I really need help finding an editor/illustrator for children’s books.

Right there, the person ‘took Panadol for my headache’…the rest they say is history.

So today, ‘How are you doing’?

Remember, Freedom is Peace; Optimism is Nature. Action is always within reach. Be More!
