Catriona Laing, the outgoing UK high commissioner to Nigeria, has officially said her goodbye to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking at a meeting with the President at the Aso Rock villa on Wednesday, Laing said she had a fabulous time in Nigeria, adding that she was fascinated by the music, dance, and culture she experienced.

“I’m sad to be leaving,” Femi Adesina, presidential spokesperson, quoted Laing as saying.

“Nigeria is so much fun, I had a fabulous time here, and I will be back. I love the dance, music, and culture. It’s been good to experience Nigeria. I’ve been to over 20 states, and I have told my successor to also do the same.

“I will be back, and still travel wider.”

Laing, who has spent four and a half years as high commissioner, commended Buhari for holding the country together.

On his part, the President said the UK is a second home for many Nigerians, and relations between the two countries would continue to wax strong.

“In fact, some wealthy Nigerians don’t feel complete till they’ve had a home in the UK,” Buhari said.

The President said he looked forward to retirement in Daura, Katsina state, after handing over on May 29.

“I will be as far away from Abuja as possible,” he said.
