Following the high-wave of insecurity in the country, the Adamawa State Command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 45 suspected illegal aliens in Yola, the state capital.

The command explained the arrest as part of the renewed effort to check illegal entry into the country.

Alhaji Rauf Adegboyega, Comptroller of Immigration in the state, said the suspects, comprising 36 men and nine women, allegedly gained entry into the country without valid documents.

“We are not saying that foreigners should not come into the country, but when they do, should with their valid documents, so that we will be able to identify them,” he said.

“It will make our job of monitoring their activities in the country easier.”

He said that those arrested would be repatriated to their countries.

Adegboyega commended the support received from residents and community leaders in exposing the illegal aliens.

According to him, the current security challenges in the country has made it imperative for everyone to be security conscious.

The comptroller solicited the support of the public and noted that the government alone can not provide security for the people.
