Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo, says three COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the state’s isolation centre.

Giving an update on the status of COVID-19 patients in the state on Saturday, the governor said the discharged persons tested negative in line with the guidelines of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He said out of the seven confirmed cases in the state, only four are still active.

“Today, out of the seven cases, two people were discharged.  We have discharged a total of three persons, remaining four and the four are undergoing treatment,” the governor stated.

He, however, noted that no new cases of COVID-19 had been recorded in the state.

The governor appealed to residents in the state to adhere to safety measures put in place to curb the spread of the virus, while he promised to do anything within his constitutional powers to protect their lives.

Nigeria currently has a total of 5,621 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, and of that figure, 1,472 persons have recovered while 176 fatalities have been recorded.
