Outrage as Imo rep ‘secures’ FIRS, TETFund employment for constituents

Miriam Onuoha, a member of the house of representatives, has sparked backlash on X following a post that she “secured federal employment” for her constituents.

On Saturday, Onuoha, via her X handle @miriam_Onuoha, announced that she “secured federal employment” for her constituents in the National Assembly Commission, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

The lawmaker, representing the Okigwe north federal constituency of Imo state, shared pictures showing three of her constituents holding what seem like employment letters.

Onuoha, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is also seen in the pictures presenting the “employment letters” to the beneficiaries.

She is the chairperson of the house committee of TETFund and other services.

However, the post has attracted criticisms from social media users who questioned if employment in federal agencies is based on merit rather than favouritism.
