INEC, APC should learn from us, says PDP on convention

Kola Ologbondiyan, national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC) need to learn how to conduct credible and peaceful elections from the PDP.

Ologbondiyan said this on Sunday at the PDP convention venue in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state.

He took a swipe at the ruling party, saying the country has not witnessed a democratic and peaceful election since President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office.

“We promised a free, fair, credible and transparent process and we have delivered all these,” he said.

“Our wish now is for the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to come and learn from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); to come and learn how to conduct a peaceful election, a democratic election that will be fair, free, clean, clear and transparent so that Nigerians can go back to being a democratic nation.

“In Nigeria’s election since President Muhammadu Buhari was elected into office, we have not seen this type of election, free, fair, democratic, peaceful.

“All the other aspirants have congratulated former vice-president Atiku Abubakar as we speak. This is the way elections are. This is what we used to know, what we were born into in Nigeria.

“Unfortunately, election has been turned into mass rigging, into stopping other people from participating in election; preventing other people’s franchise. So we believe the APC and INEC have a lot to learn from us.”
