INEC shifts election in 11 Jigawa constituencies

The shortage of electoral materials, including ballot papers, has forced the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the house of representatives election in 11 federal constituencies in Jigawa state.

Halliru Tambuwal, the resident electoral commissioner (REC) in the state, informed reporters of the development at a briefing which held at the INEC headquarters in Dutse, the state capital, late Friday.

The REC did not state the new date for the election, but said the senatorial and presidential elections would proceed as scheduled.

The affected constituencies are Gumel/Maigatari, Kaugama/Malam-madori, Gwaram, Dutse/Kiyawa, Ringim/ Taura and Sule Tankarkar/ Gagarawa.

Others are HadeJia/Kafin, Jahun Miga, Hausa/Auyo and Jahun Miga.
