Ben Ayade, governor of Cross River, has relaxed the curfew imposed on the state.

TheCable had reported how Ayade declared a 24-hour curfew in the state, following the violence which trailed the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.

Three days later, the governor announced that the curfew would last from 4pm till 8am daily.

However, following improved security, the curfew was further reviewed to last from 10pm till 6am.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by Christian Ita, his special adviser on media and publicity, Ayade said the curfew will now last from 12am till 6am.

“Following a review of the security situation in the state, Gov. Ben Ayade has ordered an immediate relaxation of the 10pm to 6am curfew in the state,” the statement reads.

“Consequently, restriction of movement is now between the hours of 12 midnight and 6am, with effect from Aug. 2, 2021.

“Members of the public can therefore go about their normal and lawful businesses between 6a.m. and 12 mid night.”
